November HĀ - Aloha

Each month, both the staff and students will be learning about Nā Hopena A‘o (HĀ.)

Nā Hopena A‘o (HĀ) is a Department-wide framework to develop the skills, behaviors and dispositions that are reminiscent of Hawaiʻi’s unique context, and to honor the qualities and values of the indigenous language and culture of Hawaiʻi.

This month we will focus on strengthening our sense of Aloha.

Strengthened Sense of Aloha: I show care and respect for myself, families, and communities. A sense of Aloha is demonstrated through empathy and appreciation for the symbiotic relationship between all. I am able to build trust and lead for the good of the whole.

  1. Give generously of time and knowledge
  2. Appreciate the gifts and abilities of others
  3. Make others feel comfortable and welcome
  4. Communicate effectively to diverse audiences
  5. Respond mindfully to what is needed
  6. Give joyfully without expectation of reward
  7. Share the responsibility for collective work
  8. Spread happiness
